Several years ago the Lincoln Rifle Club & Junior Division board of directors commissioned a group of members to come together and develop a long-range strategic plan for the club. It was becoming apparent that the primary outdoor range facility on Hwy 65, Dillman Range, would become entangled with the future housing development plans of the City of Lincoln (Download City of Lincoln General Plan 8.7 MB).  Rather than sit idle and wait for issues to develop the board wanted to pro-actively address the situation.  The Long Range Planning Committee has developed a bold and exciting framework for the club that isn’t limited to finding a new home for the existing Dillman Range but includes the development of a completely new world class shooting facility as well as an updated organizational structure to support the new direction. The vision is of a shooting facility that will not only support the Lincoln Rifle Club and Junior Division but will embrace the broader shooting community. Called the Lincoln Shooting Sports Center, it will reach out to law enforcement agencies, active and reserve military units, National Guard units, other national & state government agencies as well as all civilian organizations involved in the shooting sports. The Lincoln Shooting Sports Center will include comprehensive outdoor and indoor facilities to support the very best firearms development and training programs in northern California.

A search is currently underway for a suitable location to develop the new Lincoln Shooting Sports Center.  The Lincoln Shooting Sports Center currently has assets in the range $1.5M, with the bulk of that being tied to the land value of the Dillman range. Preparations are also underway to develop a grant and sponsorship program serving as the primary fund raising effort and will include the NRA as well as the major firearms industry companies.
